  • With Hard Spun his only mount, he made his Breeders' Cup debut in 2007 a successful one by setting the pace in the Classic and holding the place spot.
  • 2007 has been a breakout year for Pino as the regular rider of major stakes winners Hard Spun, who was second in the Kentucky Derby, and Diabolical, winner of the Alfred G. Vanderbilt (G1). In addition to the Derby, has ridden Hard Spun to four stakes victories, including the G2 Kentucky Cup Classic, where he successfully turned the tables on Derby winner Street Sense.
  • Pino, who has been based in Maryland throughout his career, rates as one of the sport's most successful jockeys. In his 29th year as a rider, he stands 15th on the all-time win list, but is third among active riders with more than 5,900 victories. He currently trails Russell Baze and Earlie Fires ...
